You may be feeling that there is never enough time to get everything done. Sometimes this busy routine means that some things have to fall to the wayside. One practice that some people overlook as a way to save time, is brushing their teeth.
The American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHAi) is currently celebrating National Dental Hygiene Month (NDHM) during the month of October. The ADHA wants to encourage people to “Brush. Floss. Rinse. Chew…Keep it Clean, Keep it Healthy!” They also offer some great and effective tips to people who simply have too much on their plate. Try to take a few minutes out of every day to follow this routine:
- Brush your teeth at least twice each day. This is the most important thing you can do to promote oral health.
- Floss once each day to assist your brushing routine in removing plaque and food from the gums and teeth. This is often where tooth decay and gum disease will start.
- Rinse your mouth with a non-alcohol basd mouthwash to kill the gingivitis germs and plaque in your mouth.
- Chewing sugar-free gum helps the mouth produce more saliva, which helps to battle cavities. It is very important to chew gum after eating or drinking.
When life gets busy, it can be easy to overlook certain things. That said, your health is something that should not be overlooked.
